Fake friends don't have your best interest in mind, but a loyal husband does.
This husband was tired of hearing his wife's "friend" underhandedly badmouth her, and although it's typically taboo to push your way into lady drama, this man set the new standard for female pettiness by matching her energy. Instead of going along with his wife's mean friend's comments, he turned the tables on her, giving her a taste of her own backhanded compliments and fake nice comments to show off her true colors.
Friend drama is its own brand of snide, tongue-in-cheek commentary, especially with ladies.
Mean girls have existed in every woman's life since the first few days of middle school, yet the trope of girl hierarchy persists well into adulthood. For ladies, it's sort of an unfortunate, yet well-understood caveat of womanhood: friends are mean sometimes to establish dominance. For many who grow out of this pettiness in high school, it seems unfathomable that anyone would still consider a mean person their "friend," but more often than not, the underhanded compliments and the mean antics follow them well past graduation.
Well, this woman's friend group was no different, and she had grown accustomed to her one friend's meanness. However, after years of witnessing this woman disrespect his wife, a man decided to stand up to her. He didn't want to publicly humiliate her in an obvious way; he wanted to eat at her and erode her in the same way she undermined his wife… with "compliments" that were actually incredibly mean.
Alas, when the tables turned, this mean girl didn't know how to act because it defied all the rules of girl friendship hierarchies. This husband won't stop his full-front assault until the day she's out of their lives for good, and until that day, he will relish in the glory of giving a mean girl a taste of her own fake-friend medicine.
