TREASURE Unexpectedly Reorganizes Ahead Of New Album, Bittersweet Feelings Follow

There will be a change in TREASURE‘s structure soon.

In 2024, Yang Hyun Suk announced that TREASURE would be making changes to the group’s formation.

Rather than the group’s leaders remaining fixed, the position would shuffle amongst the members. The group was led by Jihoon and Hyunsuk at the time, but switched to Kim Junkyu and Asahi, starting on January 1, 2025.

YG also stated that the leadership position would change every 2 to 3 years, meaning new leaders would likely be introduced as early as 2027. However, a change will be made sooner than expected.

On May 25, a video titled “Treasure Election” was shared on the group’s YouTube channel.

The group pretended in a school-like setting, noting the previous change in leadership. It was announced that new leaders would be elected to the positions of class president and vice president instead, with members voting after hearing speeches.

At the end of the voting, Haruto won the class president position, while Jaehyuk won the vice president position. At the end of the video, the group also honored the current leaders, and asked fans to look forward to the next year, seemingly indicating that the positions would be shuffled again next year.

Many fans reacted with mixed emotions, welcoming the change, while also worrying about how leadership affected the members.
