'The Office' stars reveal where their characters would be today

Former The Office stars Craig Robinson and Ellie Kemper have shared where they believe their characters would be today, more than a decade after the sitcom ended.

The costars were recently at the AT&T Business Small Business Appreciation event in Los Angeles, when Robinson reflected on the future of warehouse worker-turned-businessman Darryl Philbin.

"I think Darryl is very successful," Robinson told People on Wednesday, May 27 of what the possible outcome of leaving Dunder Mifflin to join Athlead, the sports company founded by John Krasinski’s character Jim Halpert. Robinson said Darryl likely used his connections to become a sports agent representing major athletes.

"He made some amazing connections and now he's an agent to several high-profile sports figures. So we're going to need a lot of him. We've got about three or four," he added.

Kemper also imagined a positive future for receptionist Erin Hannon, who joined the sitcom during its fifth season.

"Yeah, I would hope that she has found a partner. And I also, I have a feeling she would be working, I think, I'm not sure if she would still be working in reception, but hopefully a job in hospitality. I do think that she tries to make people happy, whatever way that takes," Kemper said about where Erin would be in life in 2026.

The long-running NBC comedy aired from 2005 until 2013 and remains one of the most popular sitcoms of its era.

During the event, Robinson and Kemper also spoke about their continued friendships with former castmates, including Angela Kinsey, Creed Bratton, and Oscar Nunez.

"Well, I think we all just, you know, love each other," Robinson told the magazine about their bond. "It's a family situation. We don't get together a lot, so when we get together, it is like, oh, you know, all this joy and, you know, reminiscing. And it's really cool. And I think, I don't know, it endures because, you know, it's something everybody can relate to. It's got the, you know, the heart and the cringe factor. Everybody can, you know, knows about being embarrassed and loving."

Kinsey additionally revealed that many cast members still stay in touch through a group chat called “The Office Peeps,” where they regularly share personal updates and memories from their time on the series.
