The trend involves dancing to the unreleased song "Backshots" by rapper SWAE as she repeatedly sings, "Gimme backshots." The trend began in late April 2026 and went viral over the following weeks, inspiring over 18,000 uses under its original sound by mid-May 2026.

On April 23rd, 2026, TikToker @feins4_ju.li.naya_ posted a dance video set to an unreleased SWAE song known as "Backshots." The video gained over one million views in a month.

The original sound for @feins4_ju.li.naya_'s video was used over 18,000 times over the next month, largely by TikTokers doing the same dance.
For example, on April 30th, 2026, TikToker @blairzspam posted a video doing the dance that gained over 830,000 views in two weeks.
@blairzspamOn May 4th, TikToker @carcar_rose posted a video where she and another person do the dance, garnering over 1.2 million views in 10 days.
