I know it's minimal, but in my mind, at least the kids had snacks packed.

Although it's still an egregious overstep from the mom's part, it's not as if the children were completely left out in the cold. Worst case, they could occupy themselves on Auntie's doorstep, because she obviously had to get back to work for the day. She wasn't going to call out, use a PTO day, or call off her meetings for an emergency, because it wasn't an emergency! Her sister just didn't feel like watching the kids that day and decided that her remote-working sister had the free time to do so on her behalf…

Your sister is under the impression that because you had never said no, she's entitled to you help. Unfortunatly, I think the only way for this to never happen again is for you to stop saying yes for at least the next six months.

I agree, one of the roughest pieces of all this is that she isn't even all that grateful for the thousands of times you have helped her with childcare. All that matters to her is this one time you can't even though she never even asked. If she was, she'd realize she is in the wrong. NTJ. Time to enforce some serious boundaries.

For the future, if she drops her kids at your house without prior agreement and refuses to come get them, you should call the police.  That's abandonment.

Yeah, I really didn’t want it to escalate that far, but after thinking about it more, just leaving your kids somewhere without permission is not okay no matter who the person is.

Your sister is taking you for granted, it’s time that she wakes up and realizes you’re not a babysitter(and a free one as I’m guessing you’re not even paid for it?). And she needs to realize she gotta ask first, you know like any decent and polite human being…

If she ever drop off her kids at your place again, ask those family members to take care of them since “family helps family”.
