A popular female K-Pop idol opened up about becoming known for having a certain reputation through variety shows, clarifying that it’s all a misunderstanding.
On May 25, Sung Si Kyung‘s YouTube channel featured content with the I.O.I members reuniting after 10 years, sharing various stories.
In the video, Jeon Somi confessed, “I have a trauma from variety shows,” capturing everyone’s attention.

Jeon Somi explained, “I was very young back then, and variety shows were really popular. There was pressure to get a single good shot, and I felt an immense burden to do well. I didn’t even realize how heavy that pressure was growing up while learning on broadcast at such a young age.”
She continued, “Now that I do variety shows with my older members, I want to clarify something. While we all enjoy being together as I.O.I, on variety shows, it’s usually the older members who say, ‘We gathered after 10 years, doesn’t it look nice?’ Meanwhile, I tried to bring variety skills by voluntarily talking about fights and times I got scolded, but only I ended up with a reputation for holding grudges for 10 years.”

She added, “That’s not the case. I was just trying to be funny.” Hearing this, Sung Si Kyung empathized deeply with her, saying, “There used to be an atmosphere that wanted those kinds of things. Being funny on variety shows is very difficult.”
