OG K-Pop Idol From YG Entertainment Spotted Now Living A Completely Different Life

A former YG Entertainment idol is drawing attention after his current life in Jeju was revealed.

On May 29, 2026 (KST), a new video was uploaded to Ryu Yi Seo’s YouTube channel. The video followed Shinhwa member Jun Jin and his wife Ryu Yi Seo as they traveled to Jeju for the first time in two years.

Once the couple arrived in Jeju, they enjoyed food and some rare downtime before heading to their next destination. Ryu Yi Seo explained that they were on their way to a café run by one of Jun Jin’s close older friends and his wife.

When they arrived at the café, which featured an interior reminiscent of an art museum, viewers were introduced to a familiar face from K-Pop’s earlier generations: former 1TYM member Oh Jinhwan.

Oh Jinhwan, who debuted as part of YG Entertainment’s hip-hop group 1TYM in 1998, is now living a new life as a café owner in Jeju. During the visit, Ryu Yi Seo asked Oh Jinhwan what year he debuted. He answered, “1998,” before talking about his connection to Jun Jin’s group, Shinhwa.

They came out a few months before us. Shinhwa came out in March, and 1TYM came out in November. We were close even back then.

The appearance drew attention because Oh Jinhwan has largely stepped away from the idol spotlight. 1TYM debuted under YG Entertainment in 1998 and became one of the agency’s defining early hip-hop groups, releasing hit songs such as “1TYM,” “One Love,” “Hot,” and “Without You.” The group stopped active promotions after 2005, and Oh Jinhwan has since moved into a very different chapter of life.
