Even the most dedicated parents occasionally crave time away from their kids.

There's no doubt about it: raising children, especially young ones, is round-the-clock hard work that sometimes feels like it doesn't offer much of a reward. A mother's love can only stretch so far when you're already on tantrum number three of the day. Successful parenting takes a level of stamina that can only be achieved with a recharge now and then.

That being said, finding the opportunity to take some time away from the kids is not always easy. This is especially true for moms, who are that much more likely to be the parent who takes on the majority of the childcare. Parental burnout is a very real phenomenon, but you just have to deal with it if you can't find a decent babysitter. It is all part of the sacrifice that comes with children.

When they want a break from being with their kids, some parents refuse to take no for an answer. As soon as they find a friend or family member who seems willing to take responsibility, they use every opportunity they can to make sure that they do not have to be the ones doing the caretaking. This can lead to conflict if they take too many liberties.
