Magnitude 4.4 earthquake detected off Batu Pahat, tremors felt onshore

BATU PAHAT, Sept 22 — A magnitude 4.4 earthquake was detected off the coast of Batu Pahat at 4.55pm today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the earthquake struck at a depth of 10 kilometres, with its epicentre at 1.7 degrees north and 102.7 degrees east, about 27 kilometres southwest of Batu Pahat.

Tremors were felt in Batu Pahat and surrounding areas, MetMalaysia said, adding that it would continue to monitor the situation. — Bernama
