Employee begs for 3rd shift in interview process, is given all 1st shift while giving newbie 3rd: 'I already have a commute 45 min to an hour and in that rush hour it takes me almost 2 hours to get there'

Nobody likes to be disrespected in the workplace. 

We all deserve to be treated how we'd like to be treated. We don't always get that, but that doesn't mean we can't ask for it. This is even true at low-paying jobs. Just because we're not being heavily compensated doesn't mean we don't get to set the terms of our employment. Sometimes it can feel like the employer has the upper hand, and we never get to have our say. But that's failing to recognize just how important we are. They need us just as much as we need them. So when you're thinking about how your job fits into your life, then you should advocate for yourself. You would hate to end up in a situation where your needs were not being met. But you don't always get to control that, no matter how much you might like to.
