Nobody likes to be disrespected in the workplace. 

We all deserve to be treated how we'd like to be treated. We don't always get that, but that doesn't mean we can't ask for it. This is even true at low-paying jobs. Just because we're not being heavily compensated doesn't mean we don't get to set the terms of our employment. Sometimes it can feel like the employer has the upper hand, and we never get to have our say. But that's failing to recognize just how important we are. They need us just as much as we need them. So when you're thinking about how your job fits into your life, then you should advocate for yourself. You would hate to end up in a situation where your needs were not being met. But you don't always get to control that, no matter how much you might like to. 

That's the situation this worker found themselves in after expressing their needs and desires again and again. They were doing their best to set the terms of their employment, and they wanted to make sure that they could do the job in a way that served them. But despite making their needs known continually, their employer just wasn't getting the message. They preferred to keep them in the dark about their situation when it served them.
