Are you passionate about scientific research in support of the green transition? Would you like to be part of our ambitious team in Fluid Mechanics for wind energy at DTU Wind? We strive every day to break the scientific ground for tomorrow’s wind technology. We offer an exciting job in an ambitious environment. If you are looking for a strong platform to develop a research career based in fluid mechanics and wind farm flows in constant interaction with colleagues, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities and qualifications

Your overall work area will be to strengthen DTU Winds profile in Fluid Mechanics with a special focus on flows in wind farms and the interaction with wind farm control. Computational Fluid Dynamics will be an integral part of the scientific research including LES resolved wake dynamics and the coupling to aero-elastic models and wind turbine control. You will be a member of the Fluid and Offshore Mechanics section, which has a strong track record in offshore aero-elasticity, numerical flow computation and experimental work. You will work with nearby colleagues and international collaborators and be an active contributor to the ongoing project formation and funding acquisition.

Your primary tasks will be

  • Contribute to teaching within Wind Energy
  • Physical analysis of spectral wake dynamics
  • LES modelling of wake creation and wake interaction in farms
  • RANS for farm-farm interaction
  • Development of coupled LES and aero-elastic models using the actuator line method
  • Analysis and design of wind farm control through LES and machine learning
  • Scientific publication
  • Contributing to grant proposals
  • Supervision of MSc and BSc studies

We expect that you have a background in aerodynamics or Fluid Mechanics and have direct experience with LES modelling, preferably in the context of wind energy.

You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Application procedure

Your complete online application must be submitted no later than 10 April 2026 (23:59 Danish time).
