KUANTAN, May 25 — A boy was killed while 11 others were injured in an accident involving three vehicles on the Segamat-Kuantan Highway near Muadzam Shah early this morning.

A spokesperson for the Pahang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said the department received an emergency call at 1.12am before a team from the Muadzam Shah Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene.

The spokesperson said the accident involved three vehicles — a Proton Saga, Perodua Alza, and Perodua Axia — each carrying four individuals.

“Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters carried out an operation to extricate victims trapped inside the Proton Saga. A young boy who was pinned inside the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical team from the Ministry of Health (MOH),” he said when contacted today.

He added that the other injured victims were handed over to MOH ambulances for treatment and taken to hospital, while the body of the deceased child was handed over to the police for further action. — Bernama
