BN Should Tap Young Talent to Win Over Youth Voters in Johor Election

In a bid to boost its chances in the upcoming Johor state election, Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties are being urged to consider fielding young and new faces as candidates, particularly in constituencies with a high percentage of young voters.

Umno Information Chief Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said believes that this move would not only have a positive impact on BN but also create opportunities for a new generation of leaders to emerge as the party’s future leadership through the state legislative assembly.

Azalina pointed out that the final decision on candidate selection rests entirely with the state BN leadership and political bureau. However, she expressed hope that the two incumbent state assemblymen under her parliamentary constituency – Aznan Tamin (Tanjung Surat) and Fauziah Misri (Penawar) – would be retained as candidates for this election.

Azalina, who is also Pengerang MP, emphasized the importance of maintaining a spirit of democracy in the election, free from violence or any untoward incidents. She also noted that the state government under Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi had the right to dissolve the Johor State Legislative Assembly, which has now led to the upcoming election.
