NMIXX member Lily is gaining attention online after making thoughtful comments about wealth, kindness, and privilege while discussing the Oscar-winning film Parasite.

Parasite is a dark comedy thriller about two families from completely different social classes. The poor Kim family struggles to survive in a cramped semi-basement apartment. Through lies and manipulation, they slowly infiltrate the lives of the wealthy Park family by pretending to be unrelated professionals. The movie gradually shifts from satire and comedy into suspense and tragedy, exposing themes of wealth inequality, class division, desperation, and the illusion of social mobility.
During a recent conversation about the movie’s themes, Lily shared her perspective on how financial stability and privilege can affect the way people treat others.

“When you are privileged, you have the luxury. The luxury of being kind. The luxury of… I think it really did show that really well. Because when you are in a desperate situation, you don’t have the luxury to care about others. It’s really just like go, go, go on my own life and literally every moment is a struggle. When am I going to care about other people? But when you’re rich, you have the resources and the luxury to just live your life. That’s when you can actually care about others. If you’re rich and you’re mean? There’s no excuse. Anyway, for me, that’s it.”
Lily about the movie Parasite:
Having the ability to be kind means your own life is stable and comfortable. It is a 'luxury' because it proves you have more than enough resources (time, money, and mental peace) for yourself, leaving you with extra to spend on others. Because… pic.twitter.com/IMgae4EIle
