Trite, pretentious, and often unnecessary, luxury items are often overpriced for no reason. As a cheapo penny-pincher myself, I scoff at big price tags and swoon over sales, which probably makes me a bad judge of “luxury” but a great judge of quality. It's not always true that luxuries are far nicer than the budget-version, but there are some purchases where a higher-quality choice is absolutely worth the investment.
Okay, this goes to the top of the list because there is clearly no exception to good TP.
Single-ply garbage that's rough to the touch and nearly see-through is hardly an acceptable form of lavatory hygiene, and that absolutely makes it one of the most important investments for the cheaply luxurious home. The self-respecting homemaker would always be willing to buy the good ply, and unless there's literally no other choice, good TP is the only way to go.
Oftentimes, as people grow out of their 20s and their spry years, it's the knees that give up on budget moving first. Professional movers are all still young chaps, eager to pick up a living room set as their daily workout in exchange for minimum wages and a pat on the back.
I, however, in my 30s with a rickety spine and a normal paycheck, will happily dish out my hard-earned funds to avoid ever lifting a mattress again. Coming from a position of luxury, this is a good way to spend some money and makes it hard to go back to getting paid for hard labor in pizza and brewskies with your college buddies….
Whatever your budget looks like, there are ways to upgrade your experience. Even without spending much money, some things are worth the extra time and thought that goes into a good choice, and oftentimes, it's the budget luxuries that are truly worth it, taking life to the next level.
Call it the business-class upgrade for the regular folks; we are destined to live it up.
