Warner Bros. Discovery veteran Dan Weinberger has been tapped to join Disney as its deputy general counsel overseeing corporate transactions, according to an internal memo.
Weinberger is a 19-year veteran of Warners, most recently holding the position of senior vice president of business and legal affairs. He handled mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt investments, joint ventures, strategic partnerships and general corporate transaction matters.
From that position, he’s advised C-suite leadership on deal structuring, negotiation strategy and deal execution while managing teams across legal and business units. Among his chief achievements: playing a key role in the $108 billion sale of Time Warner to AT&T and the $43 billion combination of Warner Media with Discovery. He’s also led major growth initiatives, including the expansion of Warners’ video game business and the formation of joint ventures in the Chinese entertainment market (think Tencent Video).
Weinberger holds a J.D. from UCLA School of Law and a B.A. from Stanford University.
The memo was sent by David Howard, Disney’s general counsel for its corporate legal unit. Weinberger starts on Sept. 28.
