Minka Kelly Responds to ‘Ransom Canyon’ Cancellation at Netflix After Two Seasons: “All Good Things Must Come to an End”

Minka Kelly is speaking out on Ransom Canyon‘s journey coming to an end less than two months after its second season premiered.

Following the news that the Netflix series was canceled after two seasons, which The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Thursday night, Kelly took to her Instagram account Friday morning to share her reaction.

“Appreciating this little trip down memory lane as we say farewell,” she wrote as a caption to a video featuring her and co-star Josh Duhamel. “All good things must come to an end. And so it is.”

The Friday Night Lights alum also gave a shoutout to her cast and crew, as well as fans of the Texas romantic drama.

“Thank you all for giving us two beautiful seasons,” she added. “I love you forever my Ransom Canyon family!”

THR also reached out to Duhamel’s reps for comment but did not hear back by publication.

Ransom Canyon premiered its first season in April 2025, with its second season debuting July 23. Created by April Blair and inspired by author Jodi Thomas’ book series, which debuted in 2015, the series follows three ranching dynasties in a small Texas town as they fight for their land, legacies and loved ones. Duhamel and Kelly starred as the romantic leads, Staten Kirkland and Quinn O’Grady.

The cast also featured Lizzy Greene, Garrett Wareing, Marianly Tejada, Jack Schumacher, Casey W. Johnson, Philip Winchester and Justin Johnson Cortez, among others.

Ransom Canyon was filmed in New Mexico, where the production made history as the first Netflix production to power its base camp almost entirely with solar energy for weeks at a time. Because it wasn’t renewed for another season, that will also affect hundreds of locals the show employed during production.
