This is the kind of petty revenge that you usually can only dream of. 

We've all had that teacher or professor who just gets under our skin. No matter what they do, it sets you off in some way. You just don't see eye to eye, and that's not going to change. Maybe they have a teaching style that you don't respond to, or maybe it's just something about their personality that puts you off. Either way, as the student in that situation, you aren't the one with the power. So you feel like you just have to sit there and suffer through whatever they throw your way. But that's not what you have to do when you have pettiness on your side. 

We often discourage pettiness as being immature or childish. We don't think that we can embrace pettiness when we need to. But we can, and we will. Sometimes, pettiness is what's going to get you out of bed in the morning. Sometimes, pettiness sets us free. Sometimes, pettiness helps us draw a boundary where we struggled to draw one before. That's what happened here, when a student crafted the perfect comeback to their snooty professor who constantly acted as if their opinions were the only opinions that mattered. You all know that person. You would rather not know that person, but you do. You don't want to deal with them, but you have to. You have no choice but to swallow what they say and move on.
