It's a delicate time of year to balance work and life. While most of us who work cushy email jobs likely have some time off to spend with our families, it isn't always that simple. Maybe you've had to do a little bit of extra work to cover the time off for the holiday, and it makes the preparation a little bit more stressful. Maybe you have one pesky coworker who just won't leave you alone, even though they're supposed to. Maybe you work for a company that doesn't value your time and just wants to squeeze every last drop out of you they can. It's up to you to draw boundaries around your relationship with working this time of year. It's also a time when you get to see your company's true colors. When push comes to shove, you understand where your company's priorities truly lie.

And there is nothing worse than getting an annoying work email during the holidays. It happens to the best of us. You're just trying to do what's expected of you before enjoying a couple of days off, and then you're handed something that ruins your day. You want to demonstrate willingness, and show everyone that you're good at your job, but there's only so much you can do. It's up to employers to do their best to refrain from sending out annoying work emails in the middle of the holiday season.
