Being in a relationship is all about compromise. In order to maintain a healthy relationship, you sometimes have to do things that you don't want to. Does going to your partner's office holiday party sound like the most fun thing in the world? Absolutely not. But you realize that the right thing to do is to go. Does visiting their great-aunt, who lives 4 hours outside of town, sound like the perfect way to spend your Saturday? Likely no, but you do it because you love them. But it's our right to set boundaries around what we will and won't do for love. That's more than okay to do. 

One of them might be sacrificing all of your free time for their artistic pursuit. If you've ever been in a relationship with an artist, you know that supporting their art is part of supporting them as a person. But that doesn't mean you have to drop everything every time they have an artistic engagement. It's their job, after all, and their job is not your responsibility. But one husband didn't quite see it that way.
