Casey Frey's "Get TF Out of My Way" Video refers to a surreal sketch by Casey Frey in which he is chopping wood and bullied by another character (also played by Frey) until he appears to be inspired by a third character (also played by Frey) to dance, frustrating the bully. A month after the video was posted, screenshots of the bully and the wood-cutting character began seeing use on Twitter as reaction images.
Origin
On May 8th and May 9th, 2019, Frey posted "Get TF Out of My Way" to his social media channels. The video accumulated millions of views across platforms such as Instagram and Twitter. Instagram. An upload of the video was later posted to Frey's YouTube channel, amassing over 15 million views in about seven years.
Spread
On June 3rd, 2019, Twitter user @mothypal joked that the video was about the worker's revolution, gaining over 5,700 retweets and 22,000 likes (shown below, left). The following day, users began using screenshots from the video as reaction images. User @notviking made a United States History meme with screenshots, gaining over 7,700 retweets and 52,000 likes (shown below, right).
The screenshots continued seeing use as reaction images in popular tweets over the following two days. For example, user @freakin_dani gained over 48,000 retweets and 111,000 likes with her example (shown below, left) and user @amandaasette's example gained over 6,500 retweets and 24,000 likes (shown below, right). Recreations
In the spring of 2020, several social media users on TikTok and Twitter posted popular recreations of Frey's video. The first was posted by TikTok user alexnvsh on March 26th, 2020, gaining over 108,000 likes (shown below)
