Doorbell Chud refers to a viral video of Jason Thomas Nichols, who attempted to break into his neighbor's house in April 2026 while identifying himself as "Harry Dresden", and was later arrested. Video of the attempt was recorded on a Ring camera, which became viral soon after and led to several edits, particularly on X / Twitter.
Origin
On April 7th, 2026, Jason Thomas Nichols arrives at the doorstep of one of his neighbors, claiming to be "Harry Dresden" of The Dresden Files while wearing flip-flops and a black pea coat. The neighbor's Ring camera recorded the incident as Jason referred to his neighbor as "Victor" and asked where his daughter was.
After the neighbor refused to let him inside, Jason attempts to kick in his neighbor's door, then rips the metal chain from a bell next to him with such force that it knocks the bell onto the ground. He then uses the chain from the bell to further attack his neighbor's door.
Ring camera footage of the incident began to surface online within the next few days. On April 19th, 2026, X user @SomaKazima2 posted the footage with the caption: "Now THIS is when you exercise your second amendment right." The post received 9.6 million views and 58,000 likes within four days.

The same day, X users began reacting to the now massively viral clip, with many of them commenting on Nichols' resemblance to Chudjak. On April 10th, 2026, X user @fflitzer used the footage of Nichols ringing the bell on his neighbor's porch to make a Gem Alert edit reminiscent of the Gem Alert Soyjak. The video received over 14 million views and 112,000 likes in three days.

On April 11th, 2026, X user @CollinRugg posted the additional footage of Nichols inside the property, which received 7.7 million views and 87,000 likes in about two days.
