‘The Remarried Empress’ Special Look: Shin Min-a, Ju Ji-hoon Preview Disney+’s Lavish K-Drama

Disney+ is keeping the anticipation at a fever pitch for The Remarried Empress, the Korean romantasy series that’s tipped to become one of the streamer’s biggest international titles of 2026.

Disney+ will premiere a “special look” featurette for the show at 4 p.m. KST Wednesday, treating fans to a batch of previously unseen footage as well as behind-the-scenes interviews with stars Shin Min-a, Ju Ji-hoon, Lee Jong-suk and Lee Se-young.

The Remarried Empress is a big-budget series adaptation of the wildly popular Naver Webtoon of the same name, which has accumulated nearly 3 billion views worldwide.

Shin Min-a stars as Navier, the beloved empress of the fictional Eastern Kingdom, whose seemingly impeccable royal marriage to Emperor Sovieshu (Ju Ji-hoon) begins to unravel when he becomes smitten with a runaway slave girl newly arrived at court (Lee Se-young). As romantic loyalties shift and palace ambitions collide, Navier finds herself increasingly drawn toward Crown Prince Heinrey (Lee Jong-suk), heir to the rival Western Kingdom.

“What follows is a tale of love, lust and regret that threatens the fate of an entire empire as Navier strives to reclaim her power,” Disney’s official summary says.

Disney+’s new preview featurette also includes interviews with director Cho Su-won (I Can Hear Your Voice, Still 17), screenwriter Yeoh Geena and other key creatives as they discuss the show’s elaborate sets and costumes, and the 16 real-world castles they scouted across France, Germany and the Czech Republic in their search for a location that could capture the original webtoon’s epic majesty.

Disney said the production of today’s featurette reflects “the anticipation surrounding the series” and that it marks the first time the company has put out such elaborate preview material for a Korean show. The first full trailer for The Remarried Empress dropped last week and drew more than 13 million views across YouTube and social media platforms in its first 48 hours.

The Remarried Empress will debut with four episodes Nov. 4 on Disney+ and Hulu, followed by two new installments each Wednesday through Nov. 25.

Prior to the streaming launch, the series will make its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival in early October, with three episodes — running a combined 151 minutes — screening in the festival’s On Screen section.
