The position is part of DTU’s Tenure Track program. We provide you with the best conditions including a mentor, state-of-the-art research infrastructure, teacher training and relevant networks. After maximum 6 years you have a possibility to be evaluated by an external assessment committee, and if evaluated positively, you will acquire a permanent Associate Professor position. 

Responsibilities and qualifications

The main purpose of this tenure track assistant professor position is to strengthen our research on optimal operation and market participation of hybrid power plant and to integrate the research in DTU’s open-source HyDesign tool as well as other research and teaching activities.

The successful candidate will work on the following tasks:

  • Further development and consolidation of our hybrid power plant operational optimization and energy management system research for electricity and other P2X market participations.
  • Further development and consolidation of our large-scale power system modelling research for electricity and other energy sectors.
  • Integrate the developed research in HyDesign together with the HyDesign development team.
  • Integrate the developed research in Balancing Tool Chain together with the Balancing Tool Chain development team.
  • Implementation of HPP Energy Management System in Risø HPP facility.
  • Support and eventually lead teaching activities on hybrid power plants including industrial training on HyDesign.
  • Bachelor, master and PhD thesis supervision.
  • Publish research in reputable conferences and journals.
  • Assist with fund raising
  • Support with project management of research and research-based consultancy projects.

We therefore give priority to the following qualifications within the following areas

  • Energy Management Systems for Hybrid Power Plants
  • Knowledge of optimization under uncertainty
  • Knowledge about electricity and energy markets especially European markets
  • Power system balancing and knowledge of DTU’s Balancing Tool Chain
  • Interfacing of energy management system with real-time control of hybrid power plants
  • Coding experience (Python, GAMS, MATLAB)
  • Knowledge of AI/ML will be of additional advantage.

You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
