On a recent episode of the YouTube show Zzanbro, Jo Hyunah opened up about the passing of her mother, recalling the quiet but unwavering support Suzy gave her throughout the funeral. According to the vocalist, her mother had been battling illness for nine months, and although she had emotionally prepared for the loss, the reality still hit hard when the funeral began the following morning.

That’s when Suzy showed up—and stayed. “She came to pay her respects and stayed all three days,” Jo Hyunah shared, describing how Suzy remained by her side for the entire duration of the funeral. In a surprisingly down-to-earth moment, she even recalled Suzy sitting in one spot, eating dried squid for three days straight, brushing off attention from others who recognized her by simply asking for more food.

But it wasn’t just her presence that left a lasting impression. Jo Hyunah also revealed that Suzy accompanied her throughout the funeral process, from the cremation to the burial site. At the final resting place, where emotions often run high but words can be difficult to say out loud, Suzy stepped forward without hesitation.

She stayed with me through everything, from the cremation all the way to the burial site. You know how people can feel kind of awkward about mourning out loud and calling out ‘Mom!’? But Suzy stepped forward and said, ‘Mother, don’t worry. I’ll take good care of your daughter.’ She said it with so much confidence and conviction, too, I was so grateful.

Host Shin Dong Yup, who has worked with Suzy as the MC for the Baeksang Arts Awards, also expressed his surprise after hearing the story. He described her as easygoing and genuine, adding that such sincerity is rare to see these days—especially from someone in her position. “Anyone who’s lost a parent knows how much that kind of support means,” he said, emphasizing just how impactful her actions must have been.
