A new “StarCraft” game is coming from Blizzard Entertainment in 2030.
While technically “StarCraft 3,” the game, an open-world shooter, will be titled “StarCraft.”
The new installment will mark the first mainline title in video game franchise since “StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void” debuted in 2015. The original “StarCraft” launched in 1998.
The “StarCraft” news was announced Saturday during BlizzCon 2026 (the first edition of the Blizzard fan-festival event hosted since 2023) at the Anaheim Convention Center. Also revealed at the BlizzCon opening ceremony was an animated TV series adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment’s popular “Diablo” video game franchise that is currently in development at Netflix.
Variety will be on the ground at BlizzCon Sept. 12-13 and readers can follow along with our coverage of the event here.
