Son sells his house after letting parents live there rent-free, prevents them from giving the property away to his pregnant sister: This is not up for debate’

"You can't just let someone else move into my house without even asking me first."

That is what most people would probably say if they found themselves in this situation, but that is still not enough to ensure it won't happen again, especially when you're dealing with family.

So much is expected out of people in the name of "family". We're supposed to give up our time, money, and pretty much any resource at our disposal in order to help people who consider themselves our family, often without anything in return. And while it's honorable to help a family member in need when we can, it shouldn't be a requirement, and it definitely shouldn't happen behind our backs, which happened in the story below.

When the family's grandmother passed away, she left her house solely to her grandson, claiming he was the only one in the family she trusted. When the ownership passed over to him, his parents acted proud, but asked him to move into the house while they sorted their finances out. 

Naively, the grandson agreed.

Six years later, the parents are still living in the house, without paying a penny to their son, while he kept telling himself he was fine with it, not wanting to deal with the backlash of asking his parents to pay him rent or to move out. But the situation was forced to be dealt with when the latest development in the family was revealed: The homeowner's sister announced she was pregnant with triplets, and told her brother that she needed a place to live.

The thing is, she didn't ask her brother if she, too, could move into his house; she simply stated a fact and told him she is moving in, claiming that their parents already said yes. 

The parents, who have no ownership over their son's house, agreed to let their pregnant daughter move in, and they even made a whole plan of how they would all live there together, and they did it all behind the actual homeowner's house. When he eventually found out about the whole plan, he realized that simply saying 'no' to his family would not be enough. He needed to take action, and ensure they never take advantage of his generousity every again…
