An SM Entertainment idol revealed a shocking untold story about almost becoming a member of BIGBANG, demonstrating unprecedented candidness.
On the YouTube channel ZIP DAESUNG, operated by BIGBANG’s Daesung, a video titled “My MP3 still plays Haru Haru and Sorry Sorry…” was posted.
In the video, Donghae and Eunhyuk, active as the Super Junior subunit D&E, appeared as guests and had a lively conversation with Daesung.
Although Donghae and Eunhyuk still emphasized their identity as “Super Junior” and greeted viewers as such, they revealed a bitter reality when it came to using the practice rooms. Eunhyuk candidly admitted, “Even after leaving SM and forming a partnership, we are not allowed to use SM’s practice rooms for our unit rehearsals.”
Donghae also shared with a bitter smile, “Once we left the company, our fingerprints were deleted and the doors wouldn’t open.” The two showed a mix of disappointment and humor about the changed rehearsal environment after moving agencies, causing laughter on site.

In particular, Donghae’s strange connection with BIGBANG’s main figures G-Dragon and Taeyang became a hot topic. Donghae recalled meeting G-Dragon and Taeyang for the first time as a child when he was invited by singer Se7en.
Donghae confessed that he realized the cultural gap between YG Entertainment’s high-energy atmosphere and SM Entertainment’s more reserved style. Eunhyuk added laughter by pointing out that Donghae had spent the whole time dancing without actually talking.
Donghae’s attempt to transfer to YG and the possibility of debuting with BIGBANG also drew attention. For the first time, Donghae revealed that around the 2002 World Cup, when the team he was preparing for was at risk of disbanding, he expressed to his manager his desire to move to YG, which was planning a five-member group.
Even Eunhyuk, his longtime companion of 20 years, was shocked to hear this for the first time. Donghae eventually debuted as a member of Super Junior after waiting two years due to SM’s objections, but later found out that the five-member group YG was preparing at the time was BIGBANG, which amazed everyone. Daesung concluded with a relieved reaction, saying, “If Donghae had joined, one of the existing BIGBANG members wouldn’t have debuted,” wrapping up the story.
