Selangor MB: Follow-up haze measures to be reviewed on Friday

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 16 — The Selangor government will review follow-up measures to address the deteriorating haze situation, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the matter would be discussed in detail, based on reports from all relevant parties, at the Selangor State Executive Council meeting scheduled for Friday.

“This Friday we have an exco meeting. We will carefully discuss the follow-up measures, because after it (haze) cleared a bit on Sunday, the situation worsened again, especially yesterday and today. We will see on Friday according to reports from all parties,” he said.

He said this to reporters after officiating the Festival Turath Islami Malaysia 2026, at Masjid Putra here today, which was held in conjunction with the Festival Turath Islami Malaysia 2026.

Amirudin said the state government also needs to obtain information from the State Health Department and related agencies before determining the appropriate measures.

“Appropriate measures include trying to assist at school and supervising our children while they study. This is because they spend a considerable amount of time at school, and we need to limit outdoor activities to avoid exposure to the haze and similar conditions,” said Amirudin.

Six areas in Selangor recorded Air Pollution Index (API) readings at unhealthy levels as of 4.30 pm today.

According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, six areas in Selangor recorded unhealthy levels, namely Johan Setia (183), Shah Alam (170), Petaling Jaya (164), Klang (160), and both Banting and Kuala Selangor (159).

An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100 (moderate); 101 to 200 (unhealthy); 201 to 300 (very unhealthy); and above 301 (hazardous). — Bernama
