Rookie Boy Group Member Hints At Why Their Producer Is Against Them Dating—Despite His Own Public Relationship With A Female Idol

He’s not “banned” from dating, but he wouldn’t.

Rookie idol BOYNEXTDOOR member Myung Jaehyun is shedding light on the unspoken dating culture within his group—and the reasoning behind it seems to point straight back to their producer, Zico of KOZ Entertainment.

In the April 20, 2026 (KST) episode of SBS‘s popular program Uh, But Like Seriously!, Myung Jaehyun appeared alongside other guests, where his easy-going personality quickly won over the hosts. But things took a more interesting turn when the topic shifted to dating. Myung Jaehyun carefully explained that there’s no official “dating ban” written into their contracts, but added that dating would still be a major issue.

Myung Jaehyun: If we date, it’s not like… getting banned from the dorm or whatever. It’s actually a much bigger deal.

Tak Jae Hoon: But you still want to date?

Myung Jaehyun: No.

Hinting at the reason why, he brought up rapper Zico, the “founder” and producer of the group.

Before he could fully elaborate, host Tak Jae Hoon cut in with a blunt remark, “But Zico did date himself, though,” referencing the producer’s own past public relationship with AOA‘s Seolhyun. That’s when the rookie idol clarified Zico’s stance, explaining that it comes from experience rather than contradiction.

He told us ‘You don’t need to go through what I went through. I hope you only experience the good things.’
