Police seek Interpol help after six foreigners charged with Jalan Ampang Pavilion Embassy robbery

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 — Six foreign men were charged in absentia at the Sessions Court here yesterday with armed gang robbery at a residential unit in Pavilion Embassy here on Sept 7.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the charge was framed under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code, which carry a maximum sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.

“During yesterday’s proceedings, the Deputy Public Prosecutor applied for arrest warrants for all the accused.

“The court subsequently set Oct 16 for mention of the application for the arrest warrants,” he said in a statement today.

Fadil said police would apply for an Interpol Red Notice to track down and arrest all the suspects.

He said police received a report on Sept 7 from a 28-year-old Chinese national who was robbed at his residence at about 5.31pm.

Fadil said the investigation papers were referred to the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Prosecution Office on Sept 17.

He urged anyone with information on the suspects’ movements or whereabouts to contact the nearest police station immediately to assist in the investigation. — Bernama
