KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 10 — The remand of Malaysian rapper and filmmaker Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, has been extended for another three days starting today as investigations continue into the death of Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yu-hsin.

Namewee’s lawyer Joshua Tay confirmed to Malay Mail that the extension was granted after the initial remand order was set to expire today.

Hsieh, 31, was found dead in a hotel bathroom along Jalan Conlay on October 22 while staying with the 42-year-old artist.

Namewee presented himself to police on November 5 and was initially remanded for questioning for six days.

The investigation is being conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, though police have yet to confirm the cause of death pending toxicology and post-mortem reports, which are expected to take several months.

Preliminary findings reportedly ruled out immediate signs of struggle or injury.

Hsieh was known online as Iris Hsieh, or the “Nurse Goddess”.
