Man refuses to accept $150k from his in-laws to help pay for a downpayment because they demand a post-nup in exchange, sparks debate about family gifts: 'Money comes with implied strings'

Many gifts are easy to accept from family members, like the receipt for a restaurant dinner, a clunky old car, or another pair of holiday socks, but when it comes to enormous sums of money, decisions become more cloudy. This entire debacle has put a woman and her husband in a tough position, dooming them either way. 

If they accept the gift, their homeownership dream can become a reality, but with potential consequences. And if they don't accept, every Christmas from now until the end of time will be painfully awkward, but they'll have their financial freedom!
