Gravity Anguirus is a series of memes about a version of the kaiju Anguirus that has gravity-related powers, who is purported to appear in the 2026 Godzilla Minus Zero movie. Memes, fan art and discourse about Gravity Anguirus went viral in mid-April 2026 after the release of the teaser trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero, a sequel to the 2023 film Godzilla Minus One, which shows rocks suspended in the sky by an antigravity power. The most likely culprit for this is King Ghidorah, however, some fans began joking that it might be Anguirus with new gravity powers, spawning the memes.
Origin
Anguirus is a monster in the Godzilla universe, depicted as a giant Ankylosaurus-like dinosaur. He has appeared in numerous Godzilla-related properties, but is considered under-utilized in modern Godzilla films by many fans. There is some push by fans to have Anguirus appear in Minus Zero, with posts hoping for this appearing on the /r/Godzilla subreddit dating back to January 2025.
On April 14th, 2026, the teaser trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero was released. At one point in the trailer, a pilot is shown navigating around rocks suspended in the air using some sort of antigravity power. Additionally, a larger, spikier version of Godzilla is shown emerging from the sea shortly after.
The most likely monster to be manipulating gravity is purportedly King Ghidorah, a well-known kaiju who has gravity beams. However, some fans started spreading memes suggesting it could be a version of Aguirus with gravity abilities.
