  • I (22F) was at the grocery store after work, in leggings and an oversized hoodie. I was just there to grab bread and oat milk, minding my own business.

  • This couple walks by me in the bread aisle the husband's pushing the cart, the wife's glued to his side.

  • I barely notice them until the wife suddenly goes, "Excuse me, can you not stand like that in front of my husband?" I thought she meant I was in the way, so I moved and said, "Oh, sorry!" But she goes, "No, I mean it's inappropriate to stand there like that.

  • You're being very distracting." I look down at myself messy bun, hoodie, sneakers. The least "distraction" outfit possible.

  • I say, "Ma'am, I'm literally trying to pick a loaf of bread." She crosses her arms and says, "You young girls have no respect.

  • The husband, now fully committed to pretending the bread section is quicksand, stares off into the distance and prays for cosmic intervention. Meanwhile, the accused distraction stands under the fluorescent lights, clutching carbs and dignity, listening to a speech about how young people these days are ruining public spaces with their very presence.

  • You know exactly what you're doing." At this point, the husband looks like he wants to disappear into the rye section.

  • He mumbles, "Honey, please," and starts pushing the cart away. She glares at me one last time and says, "Cover up next time you're in public." I just smiled and said, "Yeah, I'll make sure to wear a full suit next time I buy carbs."

  • Messy hair, sneakers, and groceries lined up for another solo commute home, and yet here comes the unsolicited dress code, straight from the “wives with grievances” manual. No crime committed except blocking someone’s view of herself in the layer-cake reflection of a bakery shelf.

  • Beneficial_Test_5917 Before perfume and wigs were invented, tarts with red lipstick would swing a bag of grocery- store bread around themselves to announce their, er, availability to your -- yes, ladies, your -- husbands.

  • SugarPlumSlutty Lol, wow, some ppl are just next level, huh?

  • Born-Frosting3164 Lord have mercy, these Al stories are stupid, contradicting and scream "I need attention" lol.

  • Leave it to a routine grocery trip to reveal a region’s entire social anxiety in the time it takes to pick out a loaf. Some folks just need an audience, even if the only drama is a busted bun and a woman in search of oat milk.
