The “forgotten” children tend to be under the impression that golden child behavior is normal because that's all they've ever known. Once they step away from the situation, they soon realize that their golden child sibling has gotten everything they've ever asked for and then some, with little parental reluctance.

You don't want to believe that your sibling is going out of their way to make your life more challenging, but when they don't allow you anything of your own because it is “unfair” of you, that's when you need to put your foot down. The parents might not have ingrained this behavior in the sister featured in this story, but they sure aren't helping.
