Many parents opt for a more gentle parenting route because they believe it meshes better with teaching a child how to be a person in the world. Emotional regulation is the main selling point of parenting styles like the Montessori method. Children are treated as people—whole people—rather than little fellas who are deserving of less respect because of their age.
At the end of the day, children should act out once in a while. It is ludicrous to expect a 5-year-old to engage with an adult in a completely polite manner with no actual childlike mannerisms present. Though it's difficult to try to push the impulsive, instinctive reactions of screaming, “Hey! Don't do that," in the long run, it's worth it. But again, this is what works for some families. Our two cents? If a child is happy and healthy, the parents are doing something right.
