KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 12 — City Hall (DBKL) has launched a targeted operation to clear pedestrian walkways along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman from illegal trading activities.
The city council said the initiative was designed to protect public safety and accessibility on one of the capital’s busiest streets.
Several traders had placed their equipment and goods on sidewalks and public routes without permission, prompting DBKL’s intervention.
During the operation, officers seized trolleys, beverage containers, gas cylinders and other commercial tools from four unlicensed setups.
DBKL said the enforcement supports efforts to safeguard pedestrian rights and maintain orderly city movement.
The council stressed that keeping walkways clear is crucial to ensure safety and improve the city’s appearance.
It said similar monitoring and enforcement exercises will continue as part of its “Kuala Lumpur, A City for All” initiative.
