BLACKPINK‘s Jisoo has officially distanced herself from her brother, Kim Jung Hun, after he was accused of sexual assault and abuse.

The scandal led to questions about what role he may have played in managing Jisoo’s career and her company, BLISSOO. In response, Jisoo’s legal team issued a firm statement on April 20.

They denied any business or legal ties between Kim Jung Hun and BLISSOO, stating that claims he co-founded the company or held an executive position there are “entirely false.” They also noted that Jisoo has lived independently of her family since her trainee days and is not in a position to know about or be involved in her brother’s personal life.
The statement even clarified that neither Jisoo nor her company is giving financial or legal support to him.
“First and foremost, the matter currently being raised is entirely unrelated to the artist and BLISSOO, and the majority of content being spread online constitutes unverified speculation or outright falsehoods.
The artist began her life as a trainee from a young age, left home early, and has lived apart from her family for many years. She is in a position where she cannot be aware of, nor involved in, that individual’s personal affairs.
Furthermore, while the artist did receive some limited advice and assistance from family members as intermediaries during consultations in the process of establishing BLISSOO, no family member has ever received compensation from BLISSOO or participated in its decision-making, either then or now. Since that time, the company has been operated with complete independence, entirely separate from any family involvement.
In particular, claims that have been circulating in certain media and online, to the effect that “the individual and the artist founded the company together” or that “the individual is an executive or CEO of BLISSOO,” are entirely false. We make it explicitly clear that the individual in question currently has no legal or managerial relationship with BLISSOO of any kind.
Furthermore, BLISSOO and the artist are not providing any financial or legal support to the individual in question, and have no plans to do so. We are also not engaged in any communication or involvement with the individual in connection with this matter.
Nevertheless, continuing to spread false information, or using the artist’s name, likeness, or image in connection with unrelated matters for public consumption and dissemination, constitutes a clear infringement of rights and an act of defamation.”

On April 16, Kim Jung Hun was arrested following a report filed by a female streamer. According to the accusations, he purchased a “date ticket” with her, had a meal and drinks together, then brought her back to his home and made physical contact without her consent. The streamer also alleged blackmail and attempted sexual assault.
Things escalated further when an account claiming to be his wife posted handwritten statements online accusing him of domestic abuse, social isolation, monitoring her online activity, and sexual assault, alongside photographic evidence.
