Anwar says Egypt’s El-Sisi to make official visit to Malaysia next month

NEW DELHI, Sept 13 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is scheduled to make an official visit to Malaysia next month.

“Insya-Allah, several matters concerning Malaysia-Egypt relations will be discussed in greater depth during President El-Sisi’s official visit to Malaysia next month,” he said in a post on his social media today.

No further details on the visit were provided in the post.

El-Sisi was among the leaders Anwar met on the sidelines of a gala dinner held in conjunction with the 18th Brics Leaders’ Summit here yesterday.

In 2024, Malaysia and Egypt agreed to work towards elevating bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.

Anwar arrived here yesterday to attend the 18th Brics Leaders’ Summit, which concludes today.

The Prime Minister will continue his working visit to Keralam (officially renamed from Kerala), a state on the Malabar Coast of southern India.

This is Anwar’s second official visit to India, following his inaugural trip as Prime Minister in August 2024.

The Prime Minister will then depart for the Maldives tomorrow (Sept 14). — AFP
