Anwar hails squash ace Ng Eain Yow after Asian Games gold secures LA28 Olympic berth

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim congratulated national squash ace Ng Eain Yow on defending his men’s singles gold medal at Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games today.

In a Facebook post, Anwar noted that Eain Yow had repeated the feat he achieved four years ago in Hangzhou, where he also won the gold medal.

“Four years ago in Hangzhou, the gold went to Eain Yow. Today, he has repeated that same success.

“A proud achievement that once again brings glory to Malaysia. Well done, Eain Yow!” he said.

Eain Yow retained the men’s singles gold medal after defeating India’s Abhay Singh 11-9, 11-5, 11-5 in the final at Nagoya Kinjofuto Arena today.

The victory also saw the Kuala Lumpur-born player secure an early ticket to Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

This gold medal marks Malaysia’s fifth at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Games, following two golds in karate and one each in e-sports and sepak takraw. — Bernama
