Anne Hathaway‘s “Verity” press tour has included solo podcast appearances and joint on-camera interviews with her co-stars Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett, but don’t expect the Oscar winner to stop at “Hot Ones.” The Sean Evans-hosted interview series, where celebrities are asked questions while eating increasingly-spicy chicken wings, has become one of the most popular press tour stops in recent years. However, Hathaway’s doctor ordered her not to eat spicy wings amid her pregnancy.
Speaking on the “Talk of the Townsends” podcast, Hathaway said that she was interested in doing an interview on “Hot Ones” since the online interview series appears in her new movie “Verity.” Hathaway filmed an episode of the show in character as Verity Crawford for a scene in the Colleen Hoover film adpatation.
“We did the first three wings for real, and then I switched to dummy wings. And then I thought that I was gonna be able to do the ‘Hot Ones’ challenge to do press for this film because it just made sense,” Hathaway explained. “But then I got pregnant, and my doctor said I couldn’t do it because I might go into early labor. So I still haven’t done the gauntlet yet. I’m not sure when that’s gonna happen. Maybe next year.”
“Verity” marks the fifth and final press tour for Hathaway this year following “Mother Mary,” “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” “The Odyssey” and “The End of Oak Street.” She’s traveled the globe and appeared on dozens of red carpets while pregnant with her third child with husband Adam Shulman. The actor is due later this year and plans to take a few months off from working after her whirlwind 2026.
“The movie [Verity] releases on October 2nd. And on October 3rd, I’m going to vanish in a plume of smoke and you’re not going to see me until you have to,” Hathaway quipped to Entertainment Tonight, noting that she will be back in front of the camera in March 2027 to film “Days of Thunder 2” with Tom Cruise.
“Verity” opens in theaters Oct. 5 from Amazon MGM.
