17-year-old refuses to babysit out-of-the-blue for her entitled aunt, mom defends her teen daughter: '[My Aunt doesn't get] to decide what I do with my time.'

A teenager had to be the bigger person recently when her entitled aunt tried to guilt and scare her into babysitting for her for free. 

It's no surprise that many older siblings and cousins end up babysitting for younger family members. Usually when this happens, there is some sort of condition, like perhaps you PAY them for their work or at least trade something like you'll let them borrow your car. It is important to pay someone for their worth so you know that you appreciate them and that they should appreciate themselves. So when this aunt decided that her teenage niece was obligated to babysit for her FOR FREE, you better believe that got shutdown.

The aunt came storming in thinking that her demanding energy would dupe the teen into babysitting, but she's smarter than that and has a nice and strong backbone. She refused, even when the aunt tried to push her now-crying kid inside against the niece's wishes. Luckily, the mom came home at that moment and stood by her daughter's side. Just because she's your niece and a teenager, doesn't mean she's wrong and you're right, Auntie. Grow up.
